Marching cubes is an algorithm used for obtaining triangle models by voxels. Simulation drawings in areas such as medical imaging, special effects and 3-dimensional modeling are generated as voxel maps. In addition, voxels are used for collision detection and deformation modeling in computer graphics. Drawings of models in these areas are created by extracted polygonal meshes of iso-surfaces from voxels. Marching cubes algorithm tends paralleling on account of it is applied to each voxel separately. In this study, marching cubes algorithm is implemented by using multi-threads by a single CPU. It‘s observed that, if the number of voxels which create the model increase, then efficiency of using threads is also increased.

In recent years, voxel-based models gain importance in many areas such as medical imaging, volume modeling/rendering, haptic rendering and collision detection. In this study, OpenCL library is used to accelerate voxelization process of three dimensional triangle-based models. OpenCL library have the ability to use central and graphics processors in a computer for a common purpose. Möller‘s triangle-box overlap testing algorithm is used to voxelize triangle-based models. Voxelization process is carried out by using central processor kernel as well as central processor in parallel with OpenCL library. The results produced by this new method are better than the voxelization techniques using only the processor. Besides, performance results are compared with single-thread traditional and multi-threaded voxelization techniques and it is shown that as the resolution is increased, performance of voxelization is getting much better than these two techniques. Improvement on voxelization time on different resolutions is also shown in the paper.

Welding operation by using virtual simulators is done realistic in virtual environment. Welding simulators give the user the sensation of real welding. The analysis of the welding quality and evaluation of welder candidate have importance. In this study, with using artificial neural network (ANN), a ‘student performance analysis and evaluation module’ is implemented for virtual welding simulator which is designed for welder training. With the simulator, data which is saved during the welding operation in virtual environment is evaluated by performance module. Personal or classroom based development can be monitored, and the historical and current performance reports can be obtained. ANN is used to define the relationship between the welding parameters and weld quality. Parameters which will be used to train the network are determined empirical with atelier works. Performance results are shown as visual and numerical by histogram graphics. Weak aspects of the user are identified by the performance analysis and recommendations are shown on the screen to improve this weakness.

In this paper, a 3D virtual sculpting application is developed for 3D virtual models with removing or adding materials using Boolean operations. Virtual sculpting simulation reads 3D virtual models in a variety file formats such as raw and stl consisting of a triangle poligon mesh and voxelizes its outer surface and interiror to generate its volumetric dataset. We used octree and hashing teqhniques to reduce the memory requirement needed for volumetric dataset. The surface is locally reconstructed using Marching Cubes algorithm known as the most popular isosurface extraction algorithm after removing or adding material to the 3D virtual model. The user interacts with the model using a haptic device to give the force-feedback like real-life sculpting.

In this study, a tree-dimensional welding seam form designed for virtual welding simulator with using basic geometrical operations. Training of a welding operator is a long period work with high cost and exertion. To decrease the cost, welding simulators are being used. The most important part of welding simulators is the construction of realistic weld seam in real time. In this paper, a welding seam form that we improved for our welding simulator is explained with bead geometry. Welding seam that we developed, is seen fit by welding authorities, and they pointed out that this form reflects the real welding seam.

In this study, an application has been developed to evaluate the performance of the welder candidates who’s using the 3D Welding Simulator. Training of welders with virtual welding simulator for three different welding methods (Electric arc, MIG-MAG and TIG) can be performed close to reality. To keep the information about the experiments on virtual welding simulator and the users who performed the experiments, a Database management and reporting system has been developed. In this software module, welding information, calculated ideal welding parameters and parameters data recorded during welding operation are stored in the database. With this software virtual welding experiments performed by welder candidate can be evaluated, the results can be shown as graphics and scoring, and personal or classroom-based development can be traced.

In this paper, Turkish texts are converted into Turkish Sign Language which deaf people speaks. Sign language word and letter animations are carried out with using a 3D virtual human model. Sign language corresponding the current word in Turkish text is searched in Turkish Sign Language (TSL) database, in case of a match, the animation of the word is played in the designed interface. When the word is not found in the database, spelling is carried out in sign language. The quality of life of deaf people will be improved with the use of the proposed system such as telecasts, conference presentations and lecture presentations in schools. 40 words exist in the proposed system, but all words can be spelled with sign language spelling. The system can be easily expanded by adding new words and animations.

“It seems like understanding the environmental causes of evolution is significant. Processors are becoming cheaper and more substantial every day, the network connections are getting faster, cheaper and common, the development of the virtualization technologies, managing and processing automation and finally the data bases are becoming the factories of information services, industrially brought about the creation of Cloud Computing[1]. “Cloud Computing, is basically the accommodation of the sources and abilities of the information technologies[2]”. This service uses a basic network to focus on the actual act. Wherever there is an internet connection, via another computer, you can connect to the operating system online and reach any kind of information including personal info or operate. Present information technologies intend to make it unnecessary to install, update, back-up etc. web based programs or make them available to any other computer with the same operating system. By building the cloud structure, hundreds of computers or servers would be able to connect to each other or the application program. With the Cloud Computing structure all computers will work internet-based and have the ability of reaching any document or program from any computer no matter which operating system it was built on[3].

Kaynak, imalat sektöründe yaygın olarak kullanılan birleştirme yöntemlerinden biridir. Kaynaklı birleştirme yöntemlerini gerçekleştiren kaynak operatörünün uygulama becerisi, kaynak kalitesine doğrudan etki eder. Dolayısı ile kaynak operatörünün yeterli teknik bilgi ve beceriye sahip olması gerekmektedir. Bu süreç uzun zaman alır ve pahalıdır. Kaynak operatörlerinin uygulamalı eğitimlerinin yanı sıra, son yıllarda simülatörler de kullanılmaktadır. Simülatörlerin kullanılması ile malzeme, enerji, zaman, iş kazaları vb azalması ile maliyetler düşürülmektedir. Bilgisayar ve yazılım teknolojilerindeki hızlı gelişmeler, Dış Dünya veya madde olmadan, algıların çok gerçekçi olarak yaşanabilmesini sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada sanal bir kaynak simülatörü tasarımı ve çalışma prensipleri verilmiştir

İmalat sektöründe yaygın olarak kullanılan birleştirme yöntemlerinden biri de kaynaktır. Kaynak operatörünün kaynaklı birleştirme yöntemlerini uygulama becerisi, kaynak kalitesini etkileyen önemli bileşenlerden biridir. Kaynak operatörünün yeterli teknik bilgi ve beceriye sahip olabilmesi için, iyi bir eğitim alması gerekir. Pahalı ve uzun olan eğitim süreci, sanal kaynak simülatörü kullanılması ile malzeme, enerji, zaman, iş kazaları vb azaltılması ile maliyetler düşürülmektedir. Bilgisayar yazılım ve donanım teknolojilerindeki hızlı gelişmeler, Dış Dünya veya madde olmadan, algıların çok gerçekçi olarak yaşanabilmesini sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada sanal bir kaynak simülatörünün genel yapısı ve kaynak operatörünün eğitimine etkileri verilmiştir.

Training of a welding operator, having a technical knowledge and skill, takes a long time and this process is expensive. The first step for welding is Welder’s training for metallic parts via welding seams in order to develop his hand skills parallel to his technological knowledge. The cost of the used training parts is high and this process is always repeated. Within the direction of these factors and plan, it is considered to do the first step of the education for welding hand skill via simulation. Fast developments of computer hardware and software technology increase the human computer interaction. Thus users interact with virtual world like real word using virtual reality devices. In this study, development of welding simulator and operation are introduced.
